Eva Bartlett, Canadian independent journalist, will be the featured speaker for a tour on the war on Syria taking place this week. The tour is co-sponsored by the Canadian Peace Congress and the Syria Solidarity Movement.
The tour is part of a Central & Eastern Canada Tour which will take Ms. Bartlett to Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal from Jan. 24-28.
Eva Bartlett is a remarkable and courageous independent journalist who has been to Syria on numerous occasions over the past 2-3 years, including several extended visits to the City of Aleppo. She has documented first-hand accounts of the devastation of the six-year war which has been imposed on the people of Syria by reactionary groups and foreign mercenaries. These “rebel” armies have been organized, financed and armed by U.S. imperialism and its NATO allies, and by Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States, Turkey and Israel with the aim of imposing regime change, and carving up Syria into sectarian mini-states, as imperialism has successfully done in Libya and Iraq. But the proxy war in Syria has backfired on its Western and regional reactionary backers, as the Syrian people have united in defence of their national sovereignty, and now stand on the verge of defeating ISIS, Al-Qaeda and the other so-called “rebels”.
As a journalist, Eva is playing a crucial role in exposing the intense propaganda war has been waged by the mainstream corporate-controlled press and media against Syria and its allies. The video of her recent press conference at the United Nations has gone viral (with over one million viewings) because of her incisive debunking of the lies and misinformation being spread by the pro-imperialist media. Here is a short snippet from that press conference:
